At NAIA, the Bureau of Immigration discovers a victim of trafficking with a phony border stamp.
A victim of human trafficking was detained by the Travel Control and Enforcement Unit (TCEU) of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) when she presented her passport with a fraudulent border stamp.
According to a statement released on Friday by Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco, the female victim was halted on April 30 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 while en route to the United Arab Emirates on a Cebu Pacific aircraft to Dubai.
She revealed, after further questioning, that her cousin, who is said to have completed all of her paperwork, had invited her.
The victim said that she provided her passport and boarding card to an unidentified woman riding in a taxi outside the airport before leaving for the airport.
She handed her a passport that had already been stamped after a while and left for the immigration departure area.
The border stamp is fake, according to the forensic documents lab of the BI.
For standard turnover procedures, the TCEU officers requested assistance from the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking stationed at NAIA.
Tansingco once more issued a warning, stating that they are prepared to end any attempts at these schemes by human traffickers.
“Our officers use a variety of techniques to spot and prevent fraud. We’ll keep defending the populace from trafficking and supporting legal action against those who engage in it, he continued.
