PH-Germany two-way commerce is up 26%

Between 2021 and 2022, the Philippines and Germany’s bilateral trade climbed by 25.8%.

German Embassy in Manila Economic Counsellor David Klebs stated at a meeting in Makati City on Tuesday that two-way trade between the two nations increased to 7.2 billion euros in 2022 from 5.8 billion euros in 2021.

“We notice that business interactions are improving. Amazingly, the Philippine government is exerting significant effort to cooperate with our government. On the sidelines of the event, Klebs told reporters, “We had two visits of meetings of our economic ministers last year, and (Trade) Secretary (Alfredo) Pascual) is coming to Germany.

As part of the three-week Europe Investment Roadshow by the Philippine team, Pascual will be in Germany from July 3 to July 5.

According to Klebs, aviation, business process outsourcing, renewable energy (RE), and project planning for RE projects, all enhance trade between the Philippines and Germany.

He continued by saying that the German government had also promoted German enterprises to expand into the Philippines.

Cosmetics and wellness sector

To access the sizable Filipino market, at least five German companies in the cosmetics and wellness sectors are looking for business partners.

NOBIS, Estatira Organic, MedSkin Solutions, Medical Beauty Research, and Skin Care Manufaktur are among the German enterprises in business.

On June 23, their business trip would come to an end.

“Our chamber is pleased to offer the platform for them to engage with important Philippine players, cultivate fruitful connections, and investigate exciting commercial opportunitiesโ€ฆ The involvement of these German businesses “highlights a charming potential in the cosmetics and wellness sectors in the Philippines,” according to Christopher Zimmer, executive director of the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The German Association of Personal Care and Detergents organized the business trip as part of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action’s Market Development Programme for German Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises.
