Covid-19 inoculation is being increased by a power company for worker safety.

Aboitiz Power Corp. announced on Friday that it is ramping up its vaccination program for employees, with over 1,300 team members from Luzon and Visayas having received at least one dose as of August 9. This is in line with the government’s goal of vaccinating at least 70% of Filipinos against coronavirus disease in 2019 (Covid-19).

The “We Got Your Vacc” campaign is also in line with the Aboitiz Group’s goal of vaccinating more than 30,000 team members and subcontractors throughout the country.

This year, AboitizPower alone plans to vaccinate 5,000 team members who have signed up for the initiative.

โ€œWe want to keep this momentum going until we’ve gotten the vaccination to all of our consenting team members.โ€ In a statement, business president and chief executive officer Emmanuel Rubio stated, “This is part of our commitment to assisting the government to achieve its goal of vaccinating a majority of the population and a testimony to the importance we put on our team members’ health and safety.”

The business obtained AstraZeneca doses for its workers via a coalition of governmental and commercial organizations that have purchased vaccinations for the Philippines, while its employees were given the choice of purchasing Moderna or Novavax for their dependents.

The vaccine recipients were mainly team employees and subcontractors from AboitizPower’s corporate headquarters in the National Capital Region (NCR), while the remainder were from Toledo City in central Cebu, where the company’s 340-megawatt thermal power plant is situated.

AboitizPower plans to start immunization campaigns in the remainder of its locations throughout the country this month, following the NCR and Cebu.

Serapio Vito, a Luzon-based team member, said he is grateful for his first injection because he wants to be protected against the virus, particularly because his job requires him to contact people of their host community in Pagbilao, Quezon.

โ€œI feel safer and more comfortable now that I’ve been vaccinated, but I still have to follow the health regulations to prevent Covid-19’s hazards and risks,โ€ he said.

Marigold Lebumfacil, a Cebu-based team member, said she got the vaccination not just for herself but also for her two children, ages seven and three.

โ€œBy becoming a part of the solution via vaccination, my children will have the opportunity to witness a brighter tomorrow and have a better future as well,โ€ she added.

To facilitate immunization efforts, AboitizPower has collaborated with healthcare administration Reliance United.

They’ve also worked with AboitizPower since last year to dispel myths about Covid-19, available vaccinations, and the immunization procedure, as well as offer medical advise to AboitizPower workers.
