DOLE will release a recommendation on quarantine leave for Covid employees.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is expected to release guidance on paid isolation and quarantine leave benefits for workers who will be isolated owing to the coronavirus sickness in 2019. (Covid-19).
“The Department of Labor’s promise is a labor guideline to clarify the regulations or policy of paying for isolation and quarantine leave. Our Secretary (Silvestre Bello III) wants to make it mandatory to pay for isolation and quarantine leaves, but this requires a legal foundation. In a virtual conference on Wednesday, Labor Undersecretary Benjo Benavidez stated, “That is a law.”
“It will be fine if the employer grants isolation and quarantine leave as part of a corporate policy or out of kindness. “Our labor advisory contains this substance,” he added.
He stated that the alert would be posted in the coming days.
“There is already a draftโฆ we need to consult or ask for feedback or comments from our labor and employer partners in the spirit of social dialogue and tripartism,” Benavidez stated.
He stated that they support the legislation that would allow for paid isolation or quarantine leaves.
“Yes, we are in favor of the bill. I’m just not sure what the legal situation is. What I know is that it has already gone through the House of Representatives Committee on Labor. “The Department of Labor supports it,” he continued.
Meanwhile, a labor organization claims that the benefit will help workers and businesses manage and keep the economy viable despite the crippling effects of Covid-19 variant attacks.

All exposed employees who must undergo isolation and quarantine (at home or in a facility) for several days and are not yet confined to a hospital but have exhausted all of their company-provided leave benefits will continue to receive their wages from their employer during isolation under the paid isolation and quarantine leave benefit.
Employees who contract Covid-19 are eligible for compensation, but those who are kept in isolation and quarantine for observation because to preliminary positive test results are not.
Employees who are paying members of the Social Security System and are hospitalized and confined for Covid-19 will be compensated throughout their hospital confinement, including the cost of medicine, doctor’s fees, and rehabilitation, under the Employees Compensation Commission’s (ECC) benefits program.
