More than 36.7 thousand people have recovered from the coronavirus, and 29.8 thousand new cases have been reported, according to the Department of Health.

On Sunday, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 36,763 recoveries and 29,828 new cases of coronavirus disease in 2019 (Covid-19).

Since the pandemic began in March 2020, there have been 273,580 active cases, with total recoveries reaching 3,090,164, or 90.4 percent of the 3,417,216 infections.

There are 260,399 mild cases, 3,006 intermediate cases, 8,371 asymptomatic cases, 1,496 severe cases, and 308 critical cases among the active cases.

“Of the 29,828 instances recorded today, 29,237 (98 percent) happened in the last 14 days โ€” January 10 to January 23, 2022,” according to the DOH.

The National Capital Region (NCR) had the newest infections in the last two weeks, with 5,178, or 18 percent; Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), with 4,227, or 14 percent; and Central Luzon, with 2,787, or 10%.

With 67 more deaths, the death toll has risen to 53,472, accounting for 1.56 percent of all cases.

“As a result of the late encoding of death information to COVIDKaya, 49 deaths occurred in January 2022 (73 percent), one in December 2021 (1 percent), two in November 2021 (3 percent), eight in October 2021 (12 percent), four in September 2021 (6 percent), one in August 2021 (1 percent), one in July 2021 (1 percent), and one in June 2021 (one percent),” according to the DOH.

COVIDKaya is a digital tool that allows healthcare professionals to collect and share information regarding Covid-19 cases.

According to the Jan. 21 data, 41.8 percent of the 69,014 people who were tested for Covid-19 were positive.

“A total of 136 duplicate cases have been eliminated from the total case count, with 78 of them being recoveries and one being a death,” according to the DOH.

Meanwhile, after validation, 22 cases formerly categorized as recoveries were reclassified as fatalities.

On Jan. 8, all laboratories were operational, but ten of them were unable to submit data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

Based on statistics from the previous 14 days, the 14 laboratories are responsible for 6.2 percent of samples examined and 6.3 percent of positive persons, according to the DOH.

Patients with Covid-19 have used 51 percent of 3,800 ICU beds, 52 percent of 20,500 isolation beds, 53 percent of 15,100 ward beds, and 24 percent of 3,100 ventilators nationwide to date.

In the meanwhile, the NCR has 48 percent of the 1,300 ICU beds, 46 percent of the 4,700 isolation beds, 52 percent of the 4,500 ward beds, and 27 percent of the 1,100 ventilators dedicated to Covid-19 patients.
