One Hundred and Fifty-Five Gallon Fresh Water Aquarium

The size of a 55-gallon freshwater aquarium makes it a good choice for a new tank, even if you don’t need a lot of space. These tanks are big enough to hold a wide variety of fish but small enough to fit in small places in your home or office. Your local store can help you with the specifics of buying, but here are some ideas for the basics. Because acrylic tanks are lighter in weight and easier to clean than glass aquariums, you should buy one of these instead of one of those. A clear tank also lets you see more. The only way to avoid having to buy one if you don’t have one is if you already own one. You will need a heater to keep the temperature stable, and a thermometer to check the water temperature. If you want to line the tank’s bottom, you’ll need about five bags of rock or another type of soil. The aquarium should have some color. You can choose a bright color to make it more interesting.

You will also need to buy a filter for the tank. Filters can be hard to understand. Take your time to find out what type of filter is best for the fish you want to keep. In addition to filters that go in the bottom of the tank, there are filters that can be attached to the side of it, and both of these filters can be cleaned. They are also very different in price. When setting up a simple freshwater aquarium, you don’t need to spend a lot of money on a filter.

This also means that the aquarium will have to be lit up. Again, it’s up to you whether you want to keep it simple or get very technical. Most fish will like a simple light that is only turned on for a few hours each day. A fish tank should have some kind of plant in it to make it more interesting. The fish can hide and feel safe in the plants. There are a lot of different types of freshwater plants that would work well in a 50-gallon tank. Just make sure you buy an aquatic species. If you don’t want to deal with live plants, you can always use plastic. They have made a lot of progress with fake plants. If the fish don’t try to eat them, they might not notice.

Once your tank is set up and you’re ready to add fish, be very careful when you choose your fish. Livebearers, gouramis, barbs, and danios are some of the fish that are hardy enough for you to start out with. These fish are strong enough to live in a tank with a lot of nitrates. Allow about 30 days for these fish to get used to the tank before adding any new fish. There are usually signs of ich or other fish illnesses that show up in about 30 days. Fish need to be healthy before adding new species. The stress of moving new fish is bad enough, but adding disease to the mix makes it even worse. When you buy fish, keep in mind that a 50-gallon aquarium can hold about fifteen to twenty small fish. This will give the fish room to grow.
