The next administration will be led by a 20-year housing plan.
MANILA, Philippines โ A transition committee will work with the next administration to ensure the continuity of the 20-year housing and urban development strategy plan and roadmap.
Last year, the multi-agency National Human Settlements Board approved the National Housing and Urban Development Sector Plan, a 20-year plan (NHUDSP).
With major projects aimed at creating spaces, transforming spaces into communities, making communities accessible and affordable, and empowering communities, the 20-year plan promises better, greener, and smarter human settlements and urban systems.
It also concentrates on the most vulnerable people, such as informal settler families, who are in desperate need of homes.
“We’ve already formed a transition committee to oversee the appointment of new housing officials by the new administration. In fact, we are now in a position to make the shift. We can hand over all of our current projects and programs, and if they are willing to continue with our programs and projects, it is now complete “Eduardo del Rosario, Secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), said in a press conference at the Quezon City central office on Tuesday.
The strategy, according to Del Rosario, ensures continuity for the next three administrations.
“Before drafting this strategy plan, we contacted everyone in the field, including housing developers, academics, and even urban poor organizations. They’ve all been incorporated into the creation of this cycle plan, so we can say that the end result is a collaboration of all sectors to ensure that we have a strategic roadmap that is adaptive to people’s demands “added del Rosario.
Short, medium and long-term programs and projects are also included in the plan, according to him.
Del Rosario stated during the DHSUD’s third-year anniversary start ceremony on Monday that the housing sector constructed and financed more than 1.07 million housing units from 2016 to 2021, the most by any administration in nearly 50 years.
“We believe that every Filipino family has the right to shelter. We are not only constructing dwelling units, but also long-term communities. Under the Duterte administration, you would never witness a substandard housing unit. “We set the bar for the highest quality housing units,” he explained.
