Antique SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has distributed cash payments to fourteen centenarians in this province in the first quarter of 2022.

“On February 25, we began releasing PHP100,000 to each of the 14 centenarians in the Municipality of Hamtic, and we just ended for March 3 in the municipalities of Valderrama, San Remigio, and Sibalom,” DSWD Antique focal person on social pension Lovelyn Ocbian said in an interview Friday.

They received financial rewards as well as letters of congratulations from President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Six of them are still living, according to Ocbian, and eight financial grants were awarded posthumously.

Two are from Tibiao, one from Hamtic, Valderrama, Sibalom, and Belison, and one from Hamtic, Valderrama, Sibalom, and Belison.

San Remigio had three centenarians, while Sibalom, San Jose de Buenavista, Tibiao, Valderrama, and Sebaste each had one.

The families of the centenarians who died got financial awards and letters of congratulations.

Last year, 15 Antique centenarians were also awarded monetary incentives.

Republic Act 10868, or the Centenarians Act of 2016, mandates the giving of monetary rewards to the elderly who have reached the age of 100.
