As ‘Balik Probinsya’ continues, Filipino families are given a fresh start.
MANILA, Philippines โ The government’s “Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-Asa” (BP2) initiative, which is sticking to its mission, will help another group of families return to Catanduanes for a new start.
Starting on Wednesday, these family beneficiaries will be subjected to two-day dispatch procedures at the BP2 Depot in Quezon City. On Thursday, they will leave Manila.
Through its implementing member agencies, the government’s BP2 initiative will provide support to the entire country.
The current batch of beneficiaries will be verified and evaluated by the National Housing Authority (NHA) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The Department of Health (DOH) will undertake Covid-19 swab testing and other medical support as needed to ensure the beneficiaries’ safe and healthy return to their home provinces.
The Department of Health will also distribute free medicines and vitamins to the recipients.
It will also make it easier to inoculate unvaccinated recipients who want to get the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines.
Following the beneficiaries’ return, the DOH will give technical assistance to local government units (LGUs), such as health capacity building and facility enhancement.
Meanwhile, the Departments of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Labor and Employment (DOLE) are providing livelihood starter kits to qualified recipients, which will enable them to make a living while transitioning to the province.
Beneficiaries can pick between poultry animals and agricultural equipment from the Department of Agriculture’s Farm Diversification Program (DA). Vegetable seedlings and poultry farm animals such as duck, chicken, and fish fingerlings are also available.
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is working closely with local governments to ensure that the recipients are allowed into their desired provinces.
The DILG keeps track of the recipient LGUs and assesses their absorptive capacity.
The NHA may give housing to qualified family beneficiaries; however, units are subject to availability in the region.
However, the housing unit is not provided for free, but it can be obtained at a very low cost.
All returning students will be transferred to educational institutions in the receiving areas and provinces under the supervision of the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
The Technical Education and Skill Development Agency (TESDA) would provide qualifying recipients with necessary livelihood training and scholarship programs.
Through the TESDA, beneficiaries can receive entrepreneurship training, job chances, technical vocational education, and training programs.
The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) is working for Mindanao-wide integrated peace and development efforts, as well as gathering support for its development partners.
Aside from assisting with examination and assessment, the DSWD also provides transportation and relocation aid, as well as temporary family support packages, livelihood settlement awards, and temporary shelter assistance to recipients.
At addition, each child who is a beneficiary will receive a mobile tablet that they can use in school.
President Rodrigo Duterte has signed Executive Order No. 114, which formalizes the Balik Probinsya program, which aims to relieve congestion in Metro Manila’s urban districts by assisting informal settlers to return to their home regions.
Qualified beneficiaries can receive sustainable livelihoods as they return to their hometown for good through the BP2 program, which can be accessed through www.balikprobinsiya.ph or by calling 0919-065-7896 and 0919-069-2530.
The government implements a streamlined system of tax incentives for export-oriented and domestic-oriented businesses, as well as support for micro, small, and medium-sized businesses.
