711 people have returned to their provinces as part of the BP2 program.

MANILA, Philippines — Through the government’s “Balik Probinsya Bagong Pag-Asa” (BP2) initiative, 711 people have already begun a new life in their respective home provinces.

Five families with a total of 18 people are the most recent recipients of the program.

On Thursday night, they would return to their native provinces of Catanduanes and Sorsogon.

Since Wednesday, these families have been subjected to two-day dispatch procedures at the BP2 Depot in Quezon City.

One of the beneficiaries, Michael Angelo Tel, expects that the Balik Probinsya program will continue in the coming years since it helps people like him start again.

“Napakaganda talaga ng programa nitong Balik Probinsya,” says the narrator. It’s tulong tulong tulong tulong tulong tulong tulong tulong (This Balik Probinsya is a very excellent program.) Sana po magtagal ang programang ito para sa mga kagaya namin na nawalan ng trabaho dito sa Maynila. It’s quite beneficial. I’m hoping that this program will be expanded for folks like us who have lost jobs in Metro Manila),” he remarked.

Tel is grateful that, thanks to the BP2 program, his family did not have to pay a single centavo on transportation and travel.

“Sagot na nila lahat ng pamasahe at pagkain, pati matutuluyan,” says the speaker. Habang naghihintay ka ng pag-uwi mo sa probinsya, wala na pong problema. Maayos ang pakikitungo nila sa mga benepisyaryo (They took care of everything, including transportation, food, and accommodation.) While you wait to return to the province, there is no longer any issue. They genuinely look after their beneficiaries),” he remarked.

Another beneficiary, Maria Chinky Dioquino, said the Balik Probinsya program is a tremendous comfort for individuals who rent in Metro Manila, like them.

“Wala po talaga kaming nilabas na pera, so napakalaking bagay sa amin ‘yun,” says the narrator. Unang-una sa Diyos at sa mga bumubuo ng programang ito, nagpapasalamat kami. Sana po hindi matigil ito, marami din pong katulad namin ang makabalik rin ng kani-kanilang probinsiya. We are grateful to God first and foremost, as well as everyone involved in the program. I hope it doesn’t stop for those folks so they can return to their own provinces),” she remarked.

Meanwhile, Alfredo Taride Abarra Jr. stated that they will make the most of the BP2 help in order to ensure that it is beneficial and gratifying for both facilitators and recipients.

“Pagyayamin at palalaguin po namin iyan ng pagkakataon na magkaroon ng maliit na negosyo kung mabibigyan po kami ng pagkakataon na magkaroon ng maliit na negosyo.” If given the opportunity to have a little business, we would enrich and grow it, po namin na utang na loob yan sa gobyerno ang lahat ng tulong nila (If given the opportunity to have a small business, we will enrich and grow it). We shall be obliged to the government for the rest of our lives),” Abarra remarked.

The Balik Probinsya program has been established by President Rodrigo Duterte’s Executive Order No. 114, with the primary purpose of reducing congestion in Metro Manila’s urban districts by assisting informal settlers in returning to their home regions.

It also aspires to implement a streamlined system of fiscal incentives for both export- and domestic-oriented businesses, as well as support for micro, small, and medium-sized businesses.

Individuals who are qualified to apply for the program can do so by visiting www.balikprobinsiya.ph or calling 0919-065-7896 or 0919-069-2530.
