In a handover ceremony, PCOO greets the new chief.

In a formal ceremony, outgoing Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar handed over important agency papers to his replacement, Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles, in the Diplomatic Lounge of the Times Plaza Building in Manila.

Andanar stated in a press statement that he is certain Cruz-Angeles will continue game-changing changes, particularly initiatives to further improve government media.

He once more expressed the hope that the programs and projects he has ledโ€”such as the modernization of public media assets’ facilities, the achievement of the objectives for the Government Communications Academy, the Mindanao Media Hub, and the Visayas Media Hub, the strengthening of ties with domestic and foreign media, and a more fruitful partnership with our alliesโ€”will be carried out.

“To our successors, may you continue to demonstrate what true public service is like and show a sense of resolve to serve the people’s shared interests. Andanar was cited as stating, “May you continue to support and promote PCOO’s advocacy and goals to empower every Filipino through accurate and competent information delivery.

Additionally, he asked the newly elected authorities to support media worker protection, advance the Media Workers’ Welfare Bill, and continue to support the freedom of information.

For her part, Cruz-Angeles promised to add “more depth and more dimension” to what PCOO has already accomplished.

Change has to be controlled. You must accept it because it is unavoidable. We are currently undergoing modifications. Some of the people here I’ll see more of, while others I’ll follow further down the road. In either case, you’ll be dealing with change management. However, our success depends on our capacity to not just manage them but also change along with them, she noted.

Ina Reformina, Greggy Eugenio, Marlon Purificacion, Bobby Ricohermoso, Emerald Ridao, Andrei del Rosario, Atty. Eugene Rodriguez, Dale De Vera, Kitz Barja, Aristotle Aguilar, and Jan Paul Songsong are the additional incoming officials who will work under her guidance.

From July 2017 through 2018, Cruz-Angeles served as a social media strategist for PCOO.

She held the position of vice-chairperson of the National Committee on Monuments and Sites prior to being appointed.

She is an attorney in the Cruz-Angeles Law Office and served as the spokesman for the Impeachment Watch Group and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.

Cruz-Angeles further worked as the National Commission for Culture and the Arts’ legal counsel.

She has a YouTube channel named “Luminous by Trixie Cruz-Angeles & Ahmed Paglinawan,” which has more than 85,000 followers, and 406,000 Facebook admirers. She also hosted the radio program “Karambola” in DWIZ.

She earned a law degree from the University of the Philippines (UP) in 1997 and is currently pursuing a master’s in archaeology at UP as well as an international relations degree at the University of Minnesota in the US.
