SC justifies choosing to take the bar examinations.

The decision to continue with this year’s Bar examinations, which will begin next week, was made after taking into account issues other than the harm caused by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng, according to a statement from the Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday.

The extent of damage and potential effects of Paeng on all Local Testing Centers (LTCs) and all Local Government Units (LGUs) protecting said LTCs were among the factors taken into consideration, according to Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa, who is also the chairperson of the committee overseeing the 2022 Bar examinations.

The LGUs and LTCs “importantly stated that they remain prepared and ready to participate in the 2022 Bar Examinations as scheduled,” the speaker said.

In weighing the needs of all the examinees, the Court, according to Caguioa, has taken into account both those who are eager to take STS Paeng as scheduled in case their lives are further delayed and those who may have been negatively impacted by STS Paeng and are formally requesting its postponement.

Hundreds of employees and volunteers, he claimed, “who have adjusted their professional and personal life in order to assist and contribute to the success of the Bar Examinations this November” were also taken into account by the SC.

He stated, “Taking all of these into account, it is the examined position of the Court that the 2022 Bar Examinations will proceed on November 9, 13, 16, and 20, 2022, as scheduled.

Caguioa claimed that the SC had nonetheless determined that it was appropriate for “examinees who may be unable to sit the Bar exams as scheduled to seek for a refund of their bar fees with the Office of the Bar Confidant (OBC) through their BAR Plus registered email addresses.”

According to the examinee’s choice, the bar fees paid could potentially be utilized for the upcoming bar exams, which are planned to take place in September 2023.
