Tuesday marked the beginning of the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) regional celebration of the National Science and Technology Week in 2022, which featured displays of the latest innovations and technology from Central Luzon’s higher education institutions (HEIs).

Central Luzon DOST (DOST-3) According to Regional Director Julius Caesar Sicat, the HEIs will be able to demonstrate their developed and ready-for-adoption innovations through the exhibitions, which can assist various stakeholders in expanding their capabilities and enterprises.

The official opening of the event at The Orchids Garden in this city was marked by the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon, which was conducted by Sicat and DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations Sancho Mabborang.

In keeping with DOST’s motto, “Science for the People,” the National Science and Technology Week aims to increase public awareness of Filipino creativity, innovation, and major and exciting advances in science and technology through fostering knowledge exchange and technology exhibits.

A technical forum for local development planners of local government units and planning officers of state universities and colleges was arranged as part of the event, according to Sicat, by the DOST-3 to give them insights into merging science, technology, and innovation.

The 2022 Technological Hive of Regional Innovation for a Vibrant Ecosystem (THRIVE) Central Luzon Innovation Summit, he added, would be placed on December 1 and will be the highlight of the four-day event.

HEIs in the area and other research institutions’ research outputs can be exploited by micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, according to Sicat, through the THRIVE event (MSMEs).

In order to empower MSMEs, he explained, “THRIVE is designed to align the requirements of industries to the research and development ambitions of the academe.”
