Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, promoted a string of tweets on Friday that exposed outdated records pertaining to Hunter Biden’s laptop scandal story from the 2020 US presidential election that previous management had either suppressed or censored.

Independent journalist Matt Taibbi claimed in a lengthy thread that he acquired “thousands of internal papers” from Twitter sources pointing to the story’s suppression on Twitter, where the social media platform controversially barred users from tweeting and direct-messaging about it.

“Twitter went above and beyond to bury the news, taking down links and alerting users that it might not be “safe.” They even prevented its transmission via direct message, a feature previously only used in exceptional circumstances, such as when child pornography was involved “Tweets from Taibbi.

A 2020 headline in the New York Post referred to Hunter Biden’s father, current US President Joe Biden, who was the nation’s vice president at the time, saying “Smoking-gun email shows how Hunter Biden connected Ukrainian businessman to VP dad.” The fact that Twitter filtered the information and strangled its public dissemination may have contributed to the story’s failure to acquire traction in the mainstream media.

Twitter cited worries about compromised materials as the justification for censoring the piece shortly after the Post published it. A result of how political operators stole and subsequently published Democrats’ emails during the 2016 election, Twitter has a policy against the publication of “hacked materials.”

At the time, Twitter listed that guideline as one of the justifications for removing the content.

According to Taibbi, a former Twitter employee put it this way: “They just freelanced it.” “Hacking was the justification, but after a few hours, almost everyone understood that wouldn’t hold. However, no one had the guts to undo it.

According to Taibbi’s interpretation of the internal records, Twitter’s former administration had a Democratic tilt but it somehow never made it to the top of the executive food chain until it was too late.

During a congressional hearing on fake news and social media, Dorsey referred to the decision to ban the Post’s piece as a “complete blunder.”

Facebook and Twitter both made significant efforts to stop the article from spreading.

Employees were prohibited from tweeting or private messaging the story’s link on Twitter.

Facebook stated that it was “limiting” the article’s dissemination until independent fact-checkers examined it.

According to Taibbi, there is no proof that the government was involved in Twitter’s decision to ban the news.

Although he has not been indicted, Hunter Biden claims that federal prosecutors in the US state of Delaware are looking into his taxes.
He has said he did nothing wrong.
