WTTC Summit highlights PH hospitality and sustainable tourism

At the most recent 22nd World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit: Travel for a Better Future in Saudi Arabia, Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco promoted the Filipino brand of exceptional customer service.

Service quality is one of the main cornerstones of the Philippine tourist business, according to Frasco, who spoke during the Global Leaders’ Dialogue at the event from November 28 to December 1.

“No matter where you are in the world, whether it’s a hotel, restaurant, hospital, home, or in many other industries, you will find a Filipino with a warm smile and the distinctive hospitality of the Filipino that is ready and willing to go the extra mile to make our guests feel happy, at home, and well-served,” she said.

Speaking to the summit attendees, Frasco stated that the organization hopes to train roughly 100,000 tourist workers by the year 2023.

“Additionally, to keep educating our people so that they can spread joy and, most importantly, hope. And to further strengthen all of that with a sense of community and the Bayanihan spirit, “She spoke.

In one of the panel discussions, Frasco also praised the DOT’s sustainability plans and initiatives, such as the Philippine Experience: A Heritage, Culture, and Arts Caravan, equalized tourism promotion and development, and revisions to national accreditation standards that include incentives for sustainable and green practices.

Because of this, she explained, “it’s a whole government, whole country approach when it comes to implementing sustainable practices in our communities.

Internationally renowned speakers such as former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, former British Prime Minister Lady Theresa May, actor and filmmaker Edward Norton, and others were invited to the summit to speak about the urgent issues affecting the travel and tourism industries in the wake of the pandemic.

A new worldwide consumer survey by YouGov, the augmented reality of the summit on Metaverse, and the environmental impact of the global travel and tourism industry were also covered.

The 21st global summit was successfully held in Manila this year from April 20 to 22.
