The commencement of preparations for Quiapo Feast Day in January

A few events leading up to the Black Nazarene Feast on January 9, 2023, have been announced.

The “pagdalaw,” or travel of the Black Jesus Christ image to several places, has begun, claim the event’s organizers, in an effort to deter followers from attending the event in Manila next month.

The visit will take place between December 1 and 15 and December 27 and 29. The general public is advised to consult the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene’s social media channels for information on the dates and times of the visit to various locations in the nation.

The Black Nazarene replica and banner blessing (estandarte) will take place over the course of three days to accommodate everyone who wants their images and banners blessed, the Quiapo Church has kindly reminded followers.

The blessing is planned for December 27 until December 29, 2022. The venue is Plaza Miranda.

To control the flow of people, devotees are cautioned that there will only be one entrance and exit. Carriedo will serve as the entry, and Quezon Boulevard will serve as the exit.

On December 30, 2022, the Thanksgiving motorcade will begin at 11:00 p.m. The route was made public by the organizers and is as follows:

Turn right at Carlos Palanca, then right at Plaza Lacson, then right at Carriedo from Plaza Miranda. Right: Evangelista, Gonzalo Puyat is on the right, followed by Quezon Boulevard, Ilalim Palanca on the left, Arlegui on the right, Legarda on the left, and Conception Aguila on the left.

Additionally, turn right at Carcer, turn right at Hidalgo, turn left at Bilibid Viejo / G. Puyat, turn right at Guzman, turn left at Quezon Boulevard, turn right at Ilalim Palanca, turn right at Villalobos, and turn right at Plaza Miranda / Quiapo Church.

The Black Nazarene image will be on display at the Quirino Grandstand from January 7-9, 2023.

A service will be performed on January 8 and will be presided over by Fr. Rufino Sescon Jr., the rector of Quiapo Church, following a Walk of Faith procession from Luneta to the Basilica after 12 a.m.

Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula will preside over the Feast Day Mass on January 9 at 12 a.m.
