‘Fixers’ vs. CDO’s anti-red tape body
The Cagayan de Oro Committee on Anti-Red Tape (CDO-Cart) was established by the local government to reduce the presence of “fixers” in city government-related transactions.
The 10-member CDO-Cart is headed by Mayor Rolando Uy as chairman, according to an interview with local economic development and investment promotion officer John Asuncion on Wednesday.
“We’ll inform folks about that committee. This way, they’ll be aware that such a committee exists “Asuncion, who serves as vice chairman of CDO-Cart, stated.
Department heads from city hall make up the members of CDO-Cart, which also includes the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Interior and Local Government as partners.
Uy claimed last week that he had heard of people taking advantage of clients by promising to speed up the procedure in exchange for favors, some of whom were city hall employees.
“Before Christmas, you’ll be familiar with them because I’ll call them into my office. The names list is only on my table “said he.
Uy declared that he will not put up with “fixing” procedures at the city hall since they reflect poorly on his leadership.
“When it comes to providing for the people, I am severe. I will be there for you if you need anything, but if you take advantage of others by providing them with the services they want, then you are no longer my friend “said he.
Fixing is regarded as a serious infraction by Republic Act 9485, also known as the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007.
Infractions will result in a maximum penalty of six years in prison, a fine of no less than PHP20,000 but no more than PHP200,000, or both.
Asuncion emphasized that getting rid of fixers is essential, particularly as city hall gets ready to issue business permits again in the upcoming year.
