The Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023–2028, which intends to support profound economic and social reform to reenergize job creation and speed up the reduction of poverty, was authorized by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday.

“I’m happy to announce that we approved the Philippine Development Plan for 2023 to 2028 today at the NEDA (National Economic and Development Authority) board meeting. This sets out the framework of the development plan for the Philippines and we have included all of the priority areas,” President Marcos said in his message.

In order to implement the PDP 2023–2028, Marcos urged all government entities to take a national perspective and go in the “same direction.”

In order to ensure that everyone is moving in the same direction, he stated, “this would facilitate the coordination and alignment of all departments and agencies in government to a single plan.”

Arsenio Balisacan, the head of NEDA, stated that the development blueprint would pave the path for “inclusive” growth while addressing inflation and the obstacles to rapid economic growth, job creation, and poverty reduction in the new normal.

The PDP, according to Balisacan, “offers an inclusive path ahead, establishing program goals, strategies, and targets, as well as supporting policies and governance structures, toward a matatag, maginhawa, at panatag na buhay (stable, convenient, and peaceful living) for all Filipinos.
