For 2023, CDO approves a P350 million special education fund.

The Local School Board (LSB) of the municipal government has approved the Special Education Fund (SEF) for 2023 in the amount of PHP350 million.
Mayor Rolando Uy stated in a statement on Monday that in addition to providing more scholarships, the SEF will also be utilized to renovate and develop school structures in various barangays.
Uy asked the LSB to cooperate, particularly in aiding young people whose families are still struggling to make ends meet.
Real property taxes gathered by the city government are used to fund the SEF.
The initiative of Uy’s predecessor, former Mayor Oscar Moreno, to refurbish and construct additional school buildings and facilities is a continuation of that effort.
Since 2013, (former) Mayor Moreno and I (as representatives in Congress at the time) have collaborated on developing infrastructures that supported the city’s educational initiatives, according to Uy.
The construction of a four-story, 12-classroom facility at the West City Central School, costing HP66 million, was the most recent project this year to receive LSB approval.

In the meantime, the municipal government intends to make unschooled youngsters beneficiaries of the projected creation of a local college.
Cagayan de Oro Technical Vocational Institute School Vocational Administrator Maria Victoria Trinidad, who is in charge of the technical working group, stated that the majority of the beneficiaries will be people who are not enrolled in school and are unemployed.
“We’ll converse with the industries a bit as well. After all, the city college’s output would hopefully be utilized by the city’s businesses, industries, and organizations “She spoke.
