The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) guarantees accredited healthcare facilities in Western Visayas a quicker processing time for their valid claims, down to 11 days as of November from the customary two months.

Good claims are those that are error-free and adhere to all applicable rules and regulations.

We concluded 2021 in the thick of a dispute about outstanding claims. Several hospitals, particularly those from Iloilo City, promised not to submit reaccreditation applications again. But in November 2022, we processed claims in just 11 days, according to an interview with Michael Avelino, head of the PhilHealth Planning Unit in Western Visayas, on Monday.

He acknowledged that they had issues with systems and procedures back then, particularly with cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

According to Avelino, among the 19 regional offices—including those from Metro Manila—the response time in Western Visayas is the quickest.

According to PhilHealth data, 896,291 claims were processed between January and November. exceeding PHP7.4 billion in value.

At 381,502 and 348,697, respectively, Iloilo and Negros Occidental had the most claims processed.

Hemodialysis procedures had the most claims (262,632), followed by Covid-19 tests, services, and supplies (over 250,000), newborn expanded care packages (more than 42,000), and normal obstetric care (at least 29,000).
