Sara Duterte, the vice president and concurrent secretary of education, praised Filipino teachers on Wednesday for their commitment, love, and service to the nation’s youth.

“Thank you very much for your dedication to your work and to the Filipino workforce, batang Pilipino. (Thank you very much for your labor and love for the Filipino children. Sa kabila ng mga dagok na ating dinanas dulot ng pandemya at iba’t ibang sakuna, hindi kayo tumalikod sa tawag ng serbisyo publiko. She stated in a prerecorded Christmas video greeting, “You did not turn your back from your calling to public service despite the hardships we have endured due to the epidemic and other tragedies.

“Your contribution in the success of our nation is crucial, and I sincerely hope that this Christmas will bring you all true joy,” she continued. “Hangad ko ay isang tunay na kaligayan para sa inyong lahat sa pagdiriwang ng Pasko.”

The DepEd staff and all teachers will have a successful year, the education chief added.

I pray your new year is peaceful, prosperous, and full of love and hope. Sana ay maging mapayapa, masagana, at puno ng pagmamahal at pag-asa ang inyong bagong taon, she stated.

During the Department of Education’s (DepEd) hybrid Thanksgiving celebration, Duterte delivered his Christmas message.

The program’s theme, “Maningning ang Pasko kung sama-sama tayo (Christmas is brilliant if we are all together),” was meant to recognize the achievements of all DepEd teachers and staff this year.

Cash rewards

Duterte approved the Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) for all qualified employees for 2022 before to the Thanksgiving holiday.

DepEd Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla revealed the document advising the SRI award in a Facebook post.

The message stated that “DepEd shall offer a rate of Fifteen Thousand Pesos (PHP15,000) SRI for every qualifying employee.”

It also stated that Finance Undersecretary Annalyn M. Sevilla had been given the go-ahead to process and issue the SRI no earlier than December 20, 2022, and no later than January 6, 2023.

Instead of the customary crediting to employees’ ATM payroll accounts, the PHP15,000 incentive is reportedly being released in cash.
