For the first quarter of 23 Manila Water offers free desludging

The first quarter of 2023’s free monthly desludging caravan schedule was released by the Manila Water Company (Manila Water) on Thursday.

In January 2023, Barangays 765, 767, 775, 790, 791, 796, and 798 in the City of Manila, Barangay Bagong Ilog in Pasig City, Barangays Calumpang and Mahabang Parang in Binangonan, and Barangay Mahabang Parang in Angono, Rizal would all have access to Manila Water’s desludging services.

The desludging caravan will travel through the Quezon City neighborhoods of Tandang Sora and Krus na Ligas as well as the Pateros municipality’s Barangays Magtanggol and Tabacalera in February 2023.

The desludging caravan will return to Tandang Sora and Krus na Ligas in Quezon City in March 2023. Barangay UP Campus will also be visited. Customers in Barangays Martirez del 96 and Santo Rosario-Kanluran in Pateros, Barangays 764, 769, 776, 778, 877, 878, 879, and 880 in Manila, Barangay Sta. Lucia in Pasig City, and Barangay San Isidro in Cainta, Rizal will also be able to use desludging services.

“In our service region, we have siphoned more than 84,000 septic tanks between January and September 2022. In order to ensure that the collected used water will be properly treated through Manila Water’s septage treatment plants before it is released back to bodies of water, we aim to increase our desludging caravan and reach our goal of desludging more than 100,000 septic tanks in the upcoming year, according to Manila Water Corporate Communications Department Head Dittie Galang.

“This translates to less water pollution and harm to the public’s health. With this, we’ll keep urging our clients to use these services as scheduled to avoid paying more on their water bill,” Galang continued.

According to her, it is essential to have septic tanks cleaned every five to seven years not only for normal septic tank maintenance but also for the community’s and environment’s safety.

Customers can confirm the precise date of the desludging caravan’s visit in their barangays by contacting their individual barangay council or by calling the Manila Water Consumer Desk Hotline 1627, according to the spokesperson.
