The PH Dev Plan offers the following steps to combat inflation: NEDA

The Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023–2028 specifies actions the government should take to address a quicker rate of price increases, according to the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), which noted that inflation increased in December 2022.

After the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported that December 2022 inflation was 8.1%, NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan stated that combating inflation is one of the Marcos administration’s main goals.

According to Balisacan, this is a component of the government’s eight-point strategy and its recently unveiled medium-term plan.

According to the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023–2028 and the 8-point Socioeconomic Agenda of the Marcos administration, the government “will continue to prioritize addressing the impact of inflation as it remains a challenge not only in the country but throughout the globe,” he said in a statement.

The country’s supply chain, logistics industry, and utilization of technology and innovation to modernize the agriculture sector are all goals of the government’s PDP 2023–2028.

“As outlined in PDP Chapter 3, the government will strengthen the creation of strategically situated facilities including integrated transportation networks, terminals, and trading hubs for wholesale food, as well as other products and postharvest facilities. Complementary private sector investments, such as those in processing facilities, cold chains, cold storage facilities, warehouses, and digital marketing channels, among others, will also be crucial, according to Balisacan.

He stated that in order to boost productivity and guarantee a steady supply of food locally, the nation’s agriculture and agribusiness must be modernized.

The country endured regular weather disruptions, and there is a need to modernize and streamline the disaster response and recovery systems.

The use of technology to forecast supply chain disruptions, the adoption of site-specific, timely, and simplified climate outlooks and weather forecasts, the improvement of biosecurity measures, and the speeding up of vaccine development to control livestock and poultry diseases are a few examples of what this will entail.

Additionally, Balisacan applauded President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s decision to extend Executive Order No. 10, which reduces import taxes on a variety of agricultural items such as pig, rice, corn, and coal until December 2023.
