The Makati City government credited company taxes for the 6-percent rise in its revenue collection goal from the previous year.

According to a report released on Monday by Makati City Treasurer Jesusa Cuneta, company taxes reached PHP9.1 billion or 10% more than the 2021 total of PHP20.9 billion collected.

Real property tax, which was reported as having been collected at PHP8.1 billion, or a 7% increase from 2021, was the second-highest revenue source.

The increased collections, according to mayor Abby Binay, demonstrate that locals and businesspeople have confidence in the city’s leadership.

She applauded the City Treasurer’s Office for its aggressive communication campaign and collecting efforts to remind taxpayers of their duties.

“Ayos na na-iparating sa kinauukulan ang notifications kasi sa kooperasyon at pakikipagtulungan ng barangay (village) leaders. Kaya naman naging mabilis at maaga rin ang pagbabayad at koleksyon ng mga dues (Notices were duly sent to the concerned due to the cooperation of barangay leaders. Dues were quickly and efficiently collected as a result “Binay stated in her Monday daily column.

The Makati Business Permit and Licensing Office reported 34,590 business permit renewals as of December 31, 2022, and 4,439 new business registrants.

New enterprises made capital investments in the city totaling PHP29.2 billion, while in 2022, registered businesses reported total revenues of PHP1.42 trillion.

“The sustained financial stability of the city will give the certainty that we can continue to provide quality service,” Binay said. “Ang patuloy na financial stability ng lungsod ay nagbibigay ng katiyakang maipagpapatuloy natin ang paghahatid ng dekalidad na serbisyo.”
