Farmers and locals in Eastern Samar will benefit from the P9-M Tulay ng Pangulo project

In Brgy. Sta. Rosa, Balangiga, Eastern Samar, farmers, and locals commended the national government for completing the Tulay ng Pangulo Para sa Kaunlarang Pang-Agraryo project.

Conrado Estrella III, the secretary for agrarian reform, coordinated the inauguration and handover of the bridge to the municipality of Balangiga on January 27 under the direction of Mayor Dana Flynch De Lira.

For barrio Santa Rosa, the construction of the first concrete bridge as part of the Tulay ng Pangulo project is a significantly important event. According to De Lira, this occurrence serves as a metaphor for Balangiga’s transition from a condition of destitution to progress.

A total of 14,341 people will benefit from the construction of the Cambukol Bridge, including the 823 ARBs in the Balangiga agrarian reform communities, which are made up of seven barangays: Poblacion 1, San Miguel, Cansumangcay, Sta. Rosa, Cag-olango, Guimaayohan, and Baciao.

“We are pleased with this project greatly. There is little doubt that it will encourage rural development in the ARCs in this area. The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and DPWH are appreciated, said Danilo Abigan, Brgy Chairman of Sta. Rosa.

The new bridge, according to Abigan, would make it simpler for ARBs to transport their agricultural products to market than the previous bridge, which was simply built of wood and caused several locals to unintentionally fall into the river.

According to Estrella, this marks yet another significant achievement for the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

“Our President is keeping his promise to offer the ARBs support services. Before, you had trouble getting your products to market; now, the Tulay ng Pangulo initiative would help you solve your transportation issues, he stated.

The Cambukol Bridge, valued PHP9 million, features a 28 linear meter, 2-lane, 1-span prefabricated modular steel technology that was provided by the French government, according to Robert Anthony Yu, DAR Eastern Visayas region leader.
