
PH Army Support Command appoints a new commander
Brigadier General Rogelio Ulanday has been selected to lead the Army Support Command, which is situated in Tarlac City, according to a statement from the Philippine Army (PA) on Wednesday (ASCOM).
After 37 years of military service, Maj. Gen. Glenn E. Cruz retired on January 30. He is succeeded by him.
According to PA spokesperson Col. Xerxes Trinidad, Ulanday, who has been ASCOM deputy commander since October 2020, has extensive experience in military logistics.
The primary PA units’ needs in terms of weaponry, transportation, organization, and equipment upkeep are catered for by ASCOM.
“Throughout his career, he held important leadership positions, including AFP quartermaster general, group commander of the 1st Logistics Support Group, ASCOM, command inspector general of ASCOM, executive officer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFPoffice )’s of the deputy chief-of-staff for logistics, inspector general of the 5th Infantry Division, and chief of the office of the Army Chief Ordnance and Chemical Service,” the source continued.
Ulanday is a graduate of the 1990 class of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA). He graduated from the Development Academy of the Philippines with a master’s degree in public management with a concentration in development security (DAP).
Cruz was appointed ASCOM leader in the same year after serving as the unit’s deputy commander from November 2018 to February 2020.
He has held other important logistical positions, including acting head of staff of the AFP Philippines procurement service, assistant chief of staff for logistics, PA, and assistant chief of staff for logistics, ASCOM.
Maj. Gen. Cruz, like his successor, is a member of the PMA Class of 1990. He graduated from Philippine Christian University with a master’s degree in management with a concentration in public administration.
Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., head of PA, who oversaw the ceremony for the transition of command, praised Cruz for his enormous contributions to the Army as a superb logistician.

The ASCOM commanders and personnel were welcomed by the Army chief, who also introduced Brig. Gen. Ulanday as a general officer who is qualified to manage ASCOM “added Trinidad.
At a brief ceremony held at Camp O’Donnell in Santa Lucia, Capas, Tarlac, Brig. Gen. Alvin Flores was also appointed interim commander of the Training and Doctrine (TRADOC) on January 30.
Maj. Gen. Peter Angelo Ramos, who retired after over 40 years of service, is replaced by him.
Prior to his nomination, Flores served as the deputy commander of TRADOC, as well as commanding the Doctrine and Capability Integration Center, the 17th Infantry Battalion, and the 5th Infantry Division’s assistant chiefs of staff for personnel and civil-military operations.
Flores is a member of the PMA Class of 1992 and has master’s degrees from De La Salle University in Business Administration, the DAP in Public Management, and the National Defense College of the Philippines in National Security Administration.
