Governmental bodies and LGUs collaborate to support farmers in Sarangani and GenSan

In order to create a strategy that would benefit the members of the 113 agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations (ARBOs) in General Santos City and Sarangani province, seven government agencies and nine local government units (LGUs) have teamed up.

The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) were partners on the project, according to Mariannie Lauban-Baunto, director of the Department of Agrarian Reform – Soccsksargen (DAR-12).

The Sarangani province government and its municipalities of Alabel, Glan, Kiamba, Maasim, Malapatan, Maitum, and Malungon, as well as the city of General Santos, made up the LGU partners in contrast.

The confluence on Thursday is in accordance with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s order to DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III to enhance the standard of living for farmers countrywide.

According to Baunto, this is accomplished through offering farmers assistance services like farming equipment, agricultural supplies, agricultural technologies, and training, among others.

She added in a statement on Friday that “these organizations have agreed to pool their resources to assist uplift the lives of our farmers and promote sustainable development in the countryside.”

Doreen Ancheta, director of CDA- 12, Elisa Gabi, Jocelyn Misterio, director of PCA- 12, Nabil Hadji Yassin, acting director of DOST- 12, Karen Cariga, and Hazel Daze Flores, development specialist for DTI, attended the conference.

Representatives from the nine LGUs recognized the DAR’s substantial contributions to the project’s success.

Additionally, they vowed to support the convergence plan and gave the participating agencies assurances that they would assist them in providing the services to their respective constituencies.
