PAL will increase China routes

In order to reopen destinations this February through March, flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) will continue to increase the frequency of its services to and from major China routes.

Flights to Beijing will resume on February 21. Flights to Quanzhou (Jinjiang) and Macau will resume on March 19 and 26, respectively. On February 14, direct services to Shanghai were resumed.

In a statement released on Wednesday, PAL president Stanley Ng said, “We are moving forward with the restoration of PAL’s Greater China flight network, an investment that will strengthen our connections to the economic hubs in the mainland and help boost bilateral relations between the Filipino and Chinese people.”

A comeback in leisure and business travel is something that PAL expects will be aided by the resumption of services between Beijing and Shanghai. The largest network of flights on numerous routes between mainland China and the Philippines would once more be operated, he said.

PAL currently offers flights to Guangzhou and Xiamen (Canton). Flights between Manila and Xiamen will expand to three times weekly on February 25 from one. The once-weekly Manila-Guangzhou flight will become twice weekly on February 16 and daily service is anticipated to start on March 26.

Flights from Manila to Jinjiang are scheduled for March 19, 22, and 24, and daily service will start on March 26.

Flights between Manila and Macau will operate twice weekly beginning on March 26. The three times weekly operations to Shanghai will become daily operations on the same day.

Airlines have been expecting to start operating in China again since these were suspended owing to border restrictions connected to the pandemic.

To Beijing, Guangzhou, Jinjiang, and Xiamen, PAL offered a total of 34 weekly services prior to the epidemic.

According to the carrier, it collaborates closely with Chinese and Philippine aviation and health authorities to guarantee travelers the highest standard of health safety measures.
