For the month of February, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported a surplus in revenue collection of around PHP1.19 billion.

According to the Bureau’s preliminary report, which was announced on Friday, it earned PHP63.015 billion last month, above its goal of PHP61.82 billion.

The amount collected last month was also PHP3.58 billion more than the PHP59.43 billion collected during the same period the previous year.

Bienvenido Rubio, the commissioner of customs, promised in a statement that he would “continue to innovate and execute lasting measures to increase the Bureau’s collection efficiency, which will contribute to the expansion and recovery of our national economy.”

In a statement, he continued, “To make this feasible, we will also prioritize promoting a healthy trading climate through upgraded and modernized systems for efficient trade facilitation and improved Customs operations for all our stakeholders.

The BOC also stated that as of February 28, it had already generated PHP133.380 billion in total revenue, exceeding its goal of PHP124.738 billion for the first two months of the year by PHP8.641 billion.

Rubio leads the BOC in raising tax collection, improving trade facilitation, and strengthening border protection while sustaining good governance and reducing corruption, all in line with the broad directions of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
