Airport personnel receive praise for refunding passengers’ money
The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 staff received praise from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Wednesday for returning a passenger’s money.
According to a Facebook post from the MIAA, traveler Terrance Alspach dropped USD1,017 (about PHP55,237) on Monday when he was completing the necessary paperwork for his journey to Tokyo, Japan.
The MIAA Media Affairs Division said that the abandoned bills were put into a tiny bag, although the post claimed that a wheelchair attendant observed the unattended bills.
A security guard named Mercy Pecson was informed by the anonymous wheelchair attendant, and she called the Airport Police Department for help. Pecson claimed she was informed that someone had lost their money at All-Nippon Airways (ANA) supervisor.
She made a call to the local airport police officer, who then counted the cash in front of the airline manager.
The personnel asked for a study of the CCTV footage to help them locate the owner, MIAA reported.
After roughly 30 minutes, they received a picture of Alspach, an NH 280 passenger.
On NAIA’s Facebook page, a picture of Alspach and the airport staff holding the cash was published.
It added that “it is heartening to know that there are still people who prioritize doing the right thing” and that the workers’ actions deserve respect and recognition. “The Manila International Airport Authority commends these airport employees for exemplifying honesty and integrity and setting a model for others to follow,” it said.
