Over 1,000 Filipinos are trained through India-PH technical collaboration.
As its ongoing training program for the Philippines has more than 1,000 beneficiaries, India plans to train additional Filipinos.
In accordance with the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) policy, New Delhi will annually allot 65 spots for Filipinos, according to India’s ambassador to the Philippines Shambhu Kumaran.
“India-Philippines relations may be entering their greatest and most significant era yet. We are witnessing more and varied, as well as deeper and meaningful engagement between our countries, he said during the ITEC Day reception in Makati. These engagements range from economic and trade ties to close political dialogue, to our growing defense and security partnership, as well as our culture, education, and people-to-people interactions.
In this extensive and mutually beneficial people-centric cooperation, “our ITEC and training engagement is a powerful strand,” the speaker continued.
The three categories of ITEC courses currently available are the eITEC, which is offered virtually, the ITEC Defense, and the ITEC Regular, which offers short- or long-term training in India.
More than a thousand Filipino nationals have received training under this program thus far in a variety of fields, including cyber technologies, agriculture, entrepreneurship, trade, medicine, and engineering and technology.
Defense training, on the other hand, encompassed a variety of specialized subjects, including maritime law, scuba diving, and aerospace safety to name a few.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Coast Guard were given the opportunity to train in India in a total of 56 slots, 22 of which had already been taken as of the time of posting.
Government agencies and other public institutions are able to nominate their staff for ITEC courses relevant to their development needs, according to the Indian Embassy in Manila.
The program is entirely financed by the Indian government for participants from the Philippines, including their round-trip airfare, lodging, and study excursions.
