The team from Lanao Norte town wins the Ironman triathlon

In the team competition of the Alveo Ironman 70.3-mile triathlon race that was conducted here on Sunday, the team from Sultan Naga Dimaporo (SND), a town in Lanao del Norte province, won.

Although he did not finish in the top three, Satar Salem, a member of the Tri SND Barracuda Team, claimed that the team won the “Tribu Maisugon” for their overall accomplishment, winning a PHP550,000 cash award.

After the bike race changeover, I was prepared to run (for the marathon phase), but I forgot my race belt, so I had to walk back one kilometer to grab it, which caused my time to slip by 12 minutes, Salem stated in a Facebook post on Monday.

Salem finished fourth in the Men’s (M) 25-29 division, however, his colleagues Jailani Lamama, Abdul Rahman Toroganan, Mohammad Hanin Maruhom, and Mohammad Hanin Maruhom all earned first, second, and third, respectively, in the Top Age Men division.

Kenneth Bonda of Tri SND Barracuda took the first position in the M18–24 division and finished 11th overall in the Top Age Men Category, while Jacob Rodriguez came in third.

In the XRelay category, two teams from the Tri SND Barracuda also won the top two slots.

Ulwan Dimaporo, the vice mayor of SND and a cyclist, Marlon Pabillaran, and Kiara Ramielle Eloy were the leaders of the first team, which finished first in the XRelay and third overall among Relay Teams.

The second Barracuda team, which included the athletes Ramil Neri, Al Fritz Gascon, and Necie Grace Bullecer, finished sixth overall and second in the XRelay.

investigate the death of an Ironman competitor

The circumstances surrounding the death of a 49-year-old swimming coach who took part in the Ironman 70.3 swimming stage of the event on Sunday are currently being looked into by the local government.

The Muslim deceased will be buried on Monday in accordance with Islamic customs.

In conjunction with the Ironman 70.3 organizers, we took sure to support the dead person’s family first. According to Mikey Aportadera, director of the City Sports Development Division, “the city also extended assistance for the burial scheduled for today.”

He underlined that fatalities and injuries are inevitable in the realm of extreme sports. But he added that the city wants to stop such occurrences and look into the case to understand what transpired.

Several safety precautions were in place during the race, he continued, and it’s possible that the incident was caused by conditions that were outside the control of the security and safety cluster.

The swimmer was revived by emergency personnel, who then transported him to the hospital, where he finally passed away from what a family member described as a heart attack.
