According to a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, 91 percent of adult Filipinos are in favor of wearing face masks voluntarily.

Executive Order (EO) 7 (series of 2022) allows the voluntary wearing of face masks in both indoor and outdoor settings. According to the survey, which was conducted from December 10 to 14, 2022 but only made public on Tuesday, 64% of respondents said they “strongly approve” of the EO, while 27% said they “somewhat approve.”

However, only 3% of adult Filipinos “somewhat disapprove” of mask use voluntarily, 1% “strongly disapprove,” and 4% are unsure.

The uncommissioned poll also revealed that approximately 54 percent of respondents, or more than half, claimed they would always wear a face mask when leaving the house.

A face mask is something that 22% of Filipinos said they wear outside “most of the time,” 15% said they wear it “sometimes,” 8% said they wear it “rarely,” and 1% never do.

The results of the same poll revealed that 91% of Filipino household heads support the voluntary use of face masks in face-to-face instruction, while only 5% disagreed.

According to the pollster, four out of five families with children in face-to-face classrooms always require their child to wear a face mask to school.

According to the SWS, 11 percent of Filipino household heads would require their child to wear a face mask while participating in face-to-face instruction “most of the time,” 5 percent would do so “occasionally,” 3 percent would do so “rarely,” and 0.5 percent would never do so.

1,200 adults countrywide (aged 18 and over) who participated in the study were interviewed in person. It has a 2.8 percent sampling error margin.
