The first Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Parade of Stars will take place in Quezon City on April 2 and is being prepared for by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Apag, Singlebells, About Us But Not About Us, Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko, Unravel A Swiss Side Love Story, Here Comes The Groom, Yung Libro Sa Napanuod Ko, and Love You Long Time will all have floats at this year’s Parade of Stars, according to a news release from the MMDA on Wednesday. It will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the Beatriz Villa.

The staging area for the floats will be two of the outside lanes between Villa Beatriz and North Zuzuarregui.

The parade will travel down Commonwealth Avenue for its whole 5-kilometer route before arriving at Quezon Memorial Circle. The Liwasang Aurora will host the main event.

The MMDA will send out hundreds of employees to control traffic and guarantee the security of parade-goers.

In order to increase the agency’s workforce on the day of the parade, Quezon City, which will serve as the parade’s host city, would send out a total of 1,202 workers.

Under the direction of its Chairman Tirso Cruz III, the MMDA and the Film Development Council of the Philippines signed a memorandum of understanding for the partnership award of PHP300,000 for each Summer MMFF film entry. The cash will assist in marketing via CreatePH Films of the FDCP.

Don Artes, the concurrent acting chairman of the MMDA and the MMFF overall committee, urged spectators to attend the parade in support of the inaugural summer MMFF.

With these preparations, we are hoping that the Parade of Stars for our first Summer MMFF will also be a success, and we are also anticipating its positive reception in theaters around the country, he added.

From April 8 to 18, the first Summer MMFF will be screened in theaters in collaboration with the Philippine Film Exhibitors Association.

On April 11, the awards ceremony will take place at the New Frontier Theater.
