Manila Water gets ready for the summertime.
In order to be ready for the anticipated rise in demand for water delivery throughout the summer, Manila Water has put safeguards in place.
By beginning to “maximize production of its treatment plants and water sources,” Manila Water claims that it has complied with the request of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS).
Arnold Mortera, the chief operating officer for Manila Water’s East Zone, stated that the company works constantly with federal, state, and municipal governments to maintain a constant supply of water.
In particular, during the summer when demand typically increases by 15% due to higher temperatures, Mortera continued, “These steps are part of Manila Water’s commitment to ensuring that our customers continue to receive 24/7 water services.”
The water concessionaire began taking action to meet demand while assuring adequate water supply reserves with 7.4 million clients in eastern Metro Manila and Rizal.
The Novaliches-Balara Aqueduct 4 was opened by Manila Water in Quezon City in January, ensuring the consistency of the water supply in the East Zone.
To increase daily water treatment capacity and provide high-quality water to inhabitants of various municipalities in Rizal Province, the water company has made operational improvements at its Cardona Water Treatment Plant.
The Marikina River, the 20-MLD Marikina Portable Water Treatment Plant, and the recently built weir, which is part of the first phase of the Antipolo Wawa-Calawis Water Supply System, were also lined up.
In addition to the steps it has already taken, Manila Water claims to have fixed any leaks or broken pipes right away in an effort to “aggressively” reduce water losses.
Despite taking water security measures, Manila Water continues to urge the public to utilize water sustainably in order to further secure its availability and sustainability.
