Australia views the Philippine market as having promise.
According to the Australian Embassy in Manila, Australia sees the Philippines as a prospective tourism source market amid a “growing segment” of high-end leisure travelers interested in visiting the nation.
Australian Ambassador HK Yu explained this in a statement dated April 24 as being due to the more than 400,000 people of Filipino heritage who draw families and friends to Australia.
The Philippine tourism industry has enormous growth potential. There were roughly 160,000 arrivals from the Philippines to Australia before the pandemic, she said.
According to the envoy, 4 percent of them traveled to Australia to study, 31 percent went on vacation, and a sizable portion—roughly 43 percent—visited family or friends.
She stressed that links between people are significant in driving travel between the two states.
Australian Tourism and Trade Minister Don Farrell stated that Canberra intends to strengthen these ties even more and draw more Filipino tourists to Australia during his five-day official visit to Manila.
“We want to strengthen the connection between our two nations. We have a lot in common, not simply the fact that we all speak English, making it simple for Australians to visit the Philippines and Filipinos to do the same, and of course, you get such a warm welcome,” he remarked.
Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, and Qantas offer at least 31 direct flights from the Philippines every week.
Direct flights are from Manila to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth.
Farrell also officially introduced Canberra’s tourist campaign Come and Say G’day in Manila, which among other things, showcases Australia’s dynamic cities and natural attractions.
In Manila from April 20 to 25, Farrell met with high-ranking government representatives, including NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, to examine ways to improve ties in the mining, tourism, and infrastructure sectors.
