As part of the Bacolod City Comprehensive Health Program (BacCHP), the local city government deployed liaisons on Monday to staff the help desks for needy patients requesting hospital admissions.

To implement the city’s premier health program, the staff will be assigned to hospitals with current contracts with the local government, according to Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.

“They ought to be in the hospitals by May 1st. The BacCHP office will establish hospital assistance stations to make things straightforward. He continued that patients only need to visit the hospital and ask for aid at the help desks.

The Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital and the three partner-private hospitals of the city, South Bacolod Medical Hospital, Metro Bacolod and Medical Center, and Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital, will each receive five liaisons.

Five additional people will be sent to the BacCHP Command Center.

About 25 liaisons or contacts received training and orientation on the health program’s process flow last month in preparation for manning the BacCHP health desks around the clock.

Patients used to have to visit different offices, including the Department of Social Services and Development. You are no longer required to do that. You can walk right up to the help desk and get help there. You will be admitted without delay if it is an emergency. The idea is to simplify things (for individuals needing medical care),” Benitez stated.

The BacCHP Family Health Membership card is given to eligible people, most of whom are from low-income families.

Under Republic Act 8344, which penalizes hospitals and medical clinics for refusing to provide appropriate initial medical treatment and support in an emergency or serious case, the private hospital will waive any deposit or advance payment required from BacCHP holders upon admission.

In addition to Philippine Health Insurance Corp. and other government health care assistance grants, the municipal government guarantees a specific sum for each BacCHP holder’s and their dependents’ hospital costs.
