The low-pressure area (LPA) and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will continue to bring rain showers to the Visayas and certain areas of Luzon and Mindanao, according to the meteorological service on Thursday.

Over the Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan, Romblon, Masbate, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur, these weather systems will bring sporadic rain showers and thunderstorms.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), moderate to occasionally intense rains in these locations could cause landslides or flash floods.

According to PAGASA forecaster Benison Estareja, the LPA, which was last monitored 130 kilometers southeast of Cuyo, Palawan, and is embedded along the ITCZ, has a moderate to high chance of intensifying into a weak tropical cyclone.

The LPA, he continued, will keep moving westward and eventually become a tropical cyclone known as Betty.

Easterlies will continue to bring warm, humid weather to Metro Manila and the rest of the nation.

Localized thunderstorms with isolated rain showers are still possible.

The majority of the country will continue to see light to moderate winds and small to moderate seas, according to PAGASA.
