From May 8 to May 14, there was a 31 percent increase in the nation’s daily average of new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), according to Department of Health (DOH) data released on Monday.

The agency reported 1,773 daily infections in its most recent case bulletin, an increase of 421 cases from the 1,352 cases reported between May 1 and 7.

In addition, 12,414 additional cases were reported in the most recent week.

Severe and critical infections rose from 410 the previous week to 437 this week.

Only 394 of the 2,093 beds in the intensive care unit (ICU) are being used, or 18.8%, but 3,791 of the 17,454 non-ICU beds are being used, or 21.7 %.

As of March 19, at least 78,443,972 people, or 100.4% of the target population for the nation (78,100,578), have received the Covid-19 vaccine, including 82.16 percent of 8,721,357 seniors.

Of the population receiving all recommended vaccinations, 23,811,248 have received booster doses.

Since January 2020, 66,453 fatalities and more than 4.1 million coronavirus cases have been reported in the nation.

Manila has 217 cases.

As of Monday at midday, 217 active Covid-19 cases were in the capital city.

The Manila monitoring report shows 23 of the total area brand-new instances.

Tondo 1 had the most active cases, with 41; Sampaloc had 34; Sta. Mesa had 30, Malate had 22, Tondo 2 had 22, Sta. Cruz had 17, and Paco and San Andres had 10 apiece.

In Port Area and San Miguel, there are no posted open cases.

Mayor of Manila Honey Lacuna pleaded with her constituents, especially parents and guardians, to vaccinate their kids or wards.

A target of 168,446 children aged 5 to 11 has not received 50% of their primary vaccinations.

Twelve to seventeen-year-olds have finished their initial vaccinations.

Only 20% of senior citizens who received booster shots have used the second dose.

More than 40 health institutions in the city offer free vaccinations.
