To end fixers’ illicit business practices, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) is working to adopt online plain renewal registration for more public utility vehicles (PUVs).

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and the LTO are working on the online renewal registration through the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) portal, according to LTO chief Jay Art Tugade on Wednesday.

“May initial meetings na po tayo sa LTFRB para magkaroon ng interconnectivity at ma-access ang mga certificate of public convenience o CPC nang sa gayon ay iyong mga may-ari ng mga PUV ay puwede na rin makapag-renew online. This allowed PUV owners to renew their vehicles online as well),” he stated.

The action comes after the online renewal of personal vehicle registration through the LTMS system in February.

The online renewal of PUV registrations would limit and end the services provided by fixers in addition to being convenient for operators.

The PUVs using our roads must be roadworthy, according to the LTO and LTFRB. Regarding renewing their unit registration, we aim to make things easier for PUV operators, according to Tugade.
