Presently, Antique Kadiwa stores sell PBBM rice at P20 per kilo.
16 Kadiwa trading businesses in Antique sell fruits, vegetables, and other goods for less money, including President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. (PBBM) rice that costs PHP20 per kilo.
According to Engr, 16 trade posts or Kadiwa retail stores have been constructed in seven municipalities. Israel de Guzman, general manager of the Jubilee Agila Bayanihan Agriculture Cooperative in Antique, in an interview on Friday.
According to him, they have two or three stores in Pandan, Libertad, Sebaste, Hamtic, Tibiao, Sibalom, and Belison, either in the town center or barangays.
On March 8 of this year, we opened the Pandan Kadiwa store for the first time. The low prices of rice and vegetables being offered by the traders to the farmers piqued Mayor Tomas Estoperez Jr.’s interest in founding the Kadiwa store in his community, he claimed.
He claimed that to make the business financially viable; it was decided that an impoverished person may only purchase two kilograms of rice from the store each day, allowing others access to the basic food.
To support farmers, he added, “We also advise people who want to buy the cheap rice first to buy PHP 100 worth of vegetables.”
He said farmers could also sell their produce at a better rate and sell agri-fishery items at reasonable pricing. For example, farmers can now sell freshly picked palay for PHP18 per kilo instead of the PHP15 per kilo that traders were offering.
Their ampalaya crop is purchased at PHP55 per kg, three times more expensive than what traders pay, and sold for PHP60 per kilo.
Additionally, Kadiwa outlets purchased onions for a maximum of PHP90 per kilo and charged customers between PHP100 and PHP120 per kilo.
Kadiwa is a marketing project of the DA that seeks to establish a direct line of communication between the producer and the consumer. Farmers will earn more by eliminating intermediaries, while consumers will be able to purchase fresh, high-quality products.
