As of Thursday, construction has begun on Davao de Oro’s fifth Super Health Center (SHC), which will provide better and more affordable healthcare to residents of this town and its surrounding areas.

Senator Christopher Lawrence Go, who presided over the groundbreaking event, announced that 322 SHCs will be constructed nationwide this year as opposed to 307 in 2022.

He stated that eight SHCs would be created in Davao de Oro.

The four further SHCs are being built in the province’s towns of Nabunturan, Montevista, Compostela, and Mawab.

When finished, the SHCs will offer the populace a full range of essential health services, including emergency, diagnostic, laboratory, X-ray, and ultrasound services, and an outpatient department, laboratory, and birthing services.

“Pregnant ladies in this area won’t visit hospitals from nearby towns. The SHC would also provide birthing services, Go said.

The Department of Health (DOH)’s health facility enhancement initiative provides funding for the PHP11.5 million medical facility.

The municipal government will be in charge of other elements, particularly the maintenance operation and staffing of the SHCs.

Go also observed the distribution of financial aid by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 11 (Davao Region) from the Department’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

At least 1,000 people received PHP3,000 each, including senior citizens, people with impairments, single parents, and marginalized labor.

Additionally, the senator gave the recipients bicycles, basketballs, volleyballs, crutches, shoes, mobile tablets, food and shopping packs, vitamins, face masks, and face shields.
