A nine-module interactive financial education (FinEd) online course developed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and BDO Foundation will launch in early 2024 for mobile devices.

The BSP said on Thursday that it has inked a MOA with the BDO Foundation to create a free online personal finance course this year to improve financial literacy among Filipinos.

This project is by the central bank’s mission to support our fellow Filipinos’ broad, convenient, and informed access to high-quality financial services. Felipe Medalla, governor of the BSP, said, “We embrace such alliances that enable us to reach and assist more Filipinos.

According to Mario Deriquito, president of the BDO Foundation, the online learning program intends to “improve the financial health and literacy of our partners, stakeholders, beneficiaries, and the public.”

“We will make FinEd available and on-demand for everyone, whether in Luzon, the Visayas, Mindanao, or even abroad, through borderless learning. The speaker stated that we are eager to observe how this project affects the lives of numerous Filipinos.

The BSP stated that the FinEd e-Learning Course would cover subjects such as personal equity and retirement accounts (PERA), financial consumer protection, digital financial literacy, debt and investment management, financial planning, saving, and budgeting.

The course is intended to “expand the coverage and quicken the implementation of FinEd programs in the country through free learning and teaching activities that can be accessed anytime, anywhere,” according to the statement.

According to the statement, the initiative’s ultimate purpose is to foster a financially stable and economically capable Filipino citizenry that can actively participate in nation-building.

The BSP stated that the lessons would be uploaded to the central bank’s and its FinEd partners’ e-learning platforms.
