PBBM promises to guide PH toward advancement.
On Monday, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. committed to guiding the country as it recovers from the devastating impacts of the coronavirus pandemic by conquering obstacles and pursuing a high-growth path.
The President organized a nationwide celebration of the 125th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine independence under the slogan “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.”
“Today’s celebration has taken on a whole new different meaning, as we mark this occasion with renewed hopes and spirited resolve to rise anew as a nation, not from political oppression but from economic scarring engendered by the crippling and lingering effect of the pandemic,” Marcos said during his toast remarks during the Vin d’honneur at Malacanang Palace.
Because of this, he added, “It is my responsibility as President to keep this house in order and lead the nation towards a high-growth path whose effect will be felt by every single ordinary Juan dela Cruz.”
The President expressed the hope that this year’s celebration and commemoration will serve as a constant reminder to Filipinos that they can only preserve the independence achieved by their forefathers by working together as a country.
He exhorted Filipinos to consider the past as they turn their attention to the future, which holds up the possibility of a more promising future for the country.
“It is our shared responsibility to foster a society that upholds democracy, social justice, and inclusivity so that every Filipino can flourish and contribute to our nation’s growth,” he declared. “Given where our nation is at this point, we acknowledge that challenges will continue to try our resolve as a people, but with the Filipino people’s unity and solidarity, we can face another 125 years with our heads held high.”
As he called for ways to “take our relations to new heights,” Marcos expressed the hope that the nation might continue fostering its links with the international community.
The President also extended an invitation to colleagues in government and business partners to continue being motivated by the fortitude and tenacity of our forefathers as they strive to enhance the quality of life for Filipinos.
On New Year’s Day and Philippine Independence Day, the President of the Philippines hosts an official reception at Malacanang Palace known as the Vin d’honneur.
Vin d’honneur, which translates to “wine of honor,” is a custom from France that occurs after inaugurations, speeches, and other formal events.
