BI will deport Chinese individuals wanted for widespread human trafficking
A Chinese woman who was apprehended for allegedly taking part in extensive human trafficking will be deported by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
According to a BI statement on Tuesday, Zheng Yuyu, 39, is suspected of being responsible for the victims’ unauthorized crossings of Chinese borders.
The suspect was detained at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 in Pasay City on Saturday before her departure to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, according to BI intelligence chief Fortunato Manahan Jr.
While deportation procedures are accelerated, she is being held at BI’s warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.
Zheng will be put on the country’s blacklist after being deported.
Zheng and another suspect in human trafficking named Chen Dongxin have been at large in Beijing for some time despite being added to the BI’s wanted list on April 29.
According to the BI, “they were charged with allegedly organizing people to illegally and covertly cross China’s territorial borders.”
Chen, who is still at large, lacks documentation because his passport has expired.
