As it began its week-long anniversary celebration on Monday, the Department of Agriculture (DA) recognized the contributions of its employees in preserving the nation’s food security.

To support the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who also serves as the DA secretary, Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban has recognized officials and workers in both the main and regional offices for guaranteeing the efficient delivery of services to the farmers and fishermen.

“Today, I honor our staff members from both the national and regional (DA offices). Before the DA’s 125th anniversary on June 23, Panganiban said in a statement, “Hopefully, in the next 125 years, the future leaders of the DA will see to it that what we are doing today and tomorrow will be the guidepost that we will do in the next 125 years.

Agnes Catherine Miranda, the DA’s Undersecretary for Administration and Finance, paid tribute to the department’s male and female employees for their 125 years of selfless service.

She said, “generations after generations of public servants in this Department played a critical role in laying the foundations of a strong, fruitful, and prosperous Philippine agri-fishery sector.”

The agency, Miranda said, remained dedicated to servicing its clients, the farmers, fisherfolk, and the Filipino people, despite the numerous difficulties it faced, including natural disasters, plant and animal diseases, complicated geopolitical situations, and financial resource limitations.

To support the sector’s development, she also urged the DA staff to become more skilled, dependable and committed public servants.

Miranda stated that as it has been for the past 125 years, the Department is still dedicated to assisting our farmers and fishermen in becoming productive and profitable.

On Monday, the DA anniversary exhibit, which highlights some of the organization’s significant accomplishments under the Marcos era, was officially opened by other top DA officials, including Undersecretary for Fisheries Drusila Esther Bayate.

“Kagawaran ng Agrikultura: 125 Taong Naglilingkod Tungo sa Masaganang Agrikultura at Maunlad na Ekonomiya” is the topic of the DA’s anniversary celebration this year.
