👏🌍 Revilla Commends DOT for Cutting Ties with Ad Agency

Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. expressed his appreciation to the Department of Tourism (DOT) on Tuesday for terminating its contract with the advertising agency, DDB Philippines. Revilla considered this move to be the right decision following the agency’s shortcomings in the recent tourism campaign, which he deemed an embarrassment to the country.

In a Viber message to reporters, Revilla stated that the DOT’s decision to end its agreement with DDB Philippines was justified. He shared the sentiments of the Filipino people regarding the agency’s failures, which resulted in deficiencies in the campaign.

The DOT’s tourism campaign faced criticism after it was discovered that DDB Philippines had used stock footage from foreign tourist destinations in a promotional video. The agency apologized for this oversight, acknowledging that the use of foreign stock footage was inappropriate.

Senator Nancy Binay also commented on the issue, emphasizing the need for authenticity in promoting destinations and warning against the negative impact of such promotional anomalies on travelers’ decisions.

The DOT has initiated an investigation into the matter and terminated its contract with the ad agency. Revilla commended the DOT for taking swift action and holding DDB Philippines accountable for the controversies surrounding the campaign.

Binay, on the other hand, urged the government to retain the “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” slogan, emphasizing the importance of continuous promotion despite the setback. She humorously suggested bringing back the “Fun” in the slogan amidst the problems with “Love” at the moment.

Overall, Revilla praised the DOT for its appropriate response in holding DDB Philippines accountable, ensuring transparency, and addressing the concerns raised by the public.
