Vaccination against Covid-19 is still being on in the Taal evacuation zones

Residents in regions impacted by the Taal Volcano’s disturbance are still being vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) at evacuation shelters, according to Interior Secretary Eduardo Ao.

He also said that the Batangas local government continues to follow the minimal health and safety standards in the evacuation camps, which presently accommodate 1,034 people.

“Maganda naman ang paghahanda at pag-aksyon ng ating pamahalaan lokal ng Batangas sa pangunguna ni Governor Hermilando Mandanas,” he added.

Mandanas, according to Ao, expressed gratitude to the national government for assistance provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Health (DOH).

The DILG head also praised the local governments for their disaster preparedness.

Following a phreatomagmatic eruption β€” a consequence of magma and water interacting β€” at its main crater on July 1, Taal Volcano has been placed on Alert Level 3 (magmatic unrest).
