According to the latest statistics published by worldwide speed monitoring company Speedtest by Ookla, the Philippines’ Internet speed for both fixed broadband and mobile Internet continued to increase in June.
In a statement, Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan II stated, “The continuing increasing trend in PH Internet speeds is a positive development in our efforts to prepare for full participation in the global digital economy.”

According to Ookla data from June 2021, the country’s average fixed broadband download speeds were 66.55 megabits per second, up 6.82 megabits per second from May 2021.

In June 2021, the mobile Internet speed was 32.84 Mbps, up 0.86 from the previous month’s figure of 31.98 Mbps.

The rising trend gathered momentum when President Rodrigo Duterte issued instructions in July 2020 challenging telecom firms to clean up their behavior and directing government institutions to help telecoms by expediting the tower licensing procedure.
