Following the discovery of new Delta variant cases and local transmission throughout the nation, local government units are undertaking rigorous contact tracing procedures, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

As of July 22, the nation had 47 Delta variant cases – 36 of which had recovered, three of which had died, and eight of which were still active.

There are 24 returning abroad Filipinos in total, with the remaining 23 being local cases.

During an online media conference, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said, “We still need to get the full reports of these contact tracing activities, but local governments are conducting their contact tracing right now.”

Six from Region 3, two from Calabarzon, two from Region 6, six from Region 10, and seven from the National Capital Region are among the local cases.

Males account for about 76 percent of the Delta variant cases, which range in age from 14 to 79 years.

“In terms of vaccination status, two patients got two doses of Covid-19 vaccine, four cases received one dose, and 18 cases were proven not to have been vaccinated, with the vaccination status of the remaining cases being verified,” Vergeire added.

On Thursday, a further 12 cases were recorded, all of which were marked as recovered.

Their ages vary from 19 to 58, and nine of them are men. Their immunization records are being checked.

The extra 12 Delta variant instances, according to the Department of Health, are all local cases: six from Bataan, two from Laguna, one from Manila, two from Pasig, and one from Taguig.

“Tayo ay talagang nakikipag-usap sa mga local governments dahil ayaw naman nating tuluyang kumalat ang mga (We’re working with local governments to limit the spread of) worrisome variations, especially the Delta variant,” Vergeire added.

She went on to say that the administration is using all available measures to prevent the local transmission from becoming a communal transmission.
